Attributes required to be a successful Art Director

Creativity is an important attribute of a successful art director, this is because a key part of their job role within advertising is producing and coming up with innovative ideas for the visual elements of campaigns. As art directors work with many forms of media (e.g. TV, radio, print), it is important that they are creative enough as to be flexible to work successful on each particular campaign, no matter how different they are.
Another important attribute an art director should posses are leadership skills. As a art director, one would be responsible for working within and leading an art team in order to create the desired outcome. If an art director is not a good leader, deadlines will not be met and projects will not be completed to their full potential.
As art directors work within/ will lead a team, another important attribute they should posses is effective and good communication. Good communication is crucial when working with others in order to ensure each member of the team is clear and up to date on what is happening within a project/ campaign. Lack of communication as an attribute could potentially result in misunderstanding and confusion.
Time management is also an attribute of a successful art director. If an art director does not manage time sufficiently deadlines will not be met and projects will not be completed.

Etiquette

Polite and well mannered behaviour towards others around you.
Etiquette is important when working within the media industry as lots of work will be within a team and working with others around. In order to work effectively with others it is important to respect them and are polite and supportive.
Etiquette enables others to complete their role successfully as deadlines will not be met and projects will not be completed if team members are rude to each other.
